My name is Rui Murakami, the second-generation owner. I love handicrafts, and shoe repair has become both my hobby and my special skill. I get excited when it comes to difficult shoe repairs, so if you have any difficult shoe repairs that other shops have refused to do, or shoes that have been repaired but didn't turn out as expected, please bring them to me. My career as a shoemaker began when I attended a shoemaking school and was taught by three shoemakers. It was through the second of these that I met Masatoshi Sato, the predecessor of Hudson Shoe Store. Mr. Sato made shoes for many famous people, including former Prime Minister Shigeru Yoshida and Yujiro Ishihara, and was the only shoemaker in Yokohama to receive awards such as a letter of thanks from the Ministry of International Trade and Industry and the Tokyo Governor's Award. I was so fortunate to have had the opportunity to learn true shoemaking techniques from such a former master, and this has immersed me even more in the world of shoemaking. Today, as the second-generation owner of Hudson Shoe Store, I repair everyone's shoes. Hudson Shoe Store has been repairing shoes in Yokohama for 60 years, since 1961 (Showa 36). As the shoe repair industry has become increasingly mechanized, shoe repair shops run by shoemakers have become scarce. However, there are still people who need shoe repairs that can only be done by hand, and who need that skill. At Hudson Shoe Store, we take pride in our work and strive to properly pass on our skills and contribute to the development of the shoe industry. We hope to bring many smiles to this small shoe store.
