RIMINI: Una ferrovia per San Marino, c’è la volontà | VIDEO

There's been talk of reviving it ever since it was decommissioned after the bombings of the war. The ancient railway that ran from the sea near Rimini to the summit of Mount Titano has always been a fascinating topic. And now, in a media exchange, the Municipality of Rimini and the Republic of San Marino have made it clear they share the same intention. The last run of the blue and white trains took place on the night between July 11 and 12, 1944. Signs of that route can still be seen in the fields. A recent provincial study revived the route, which includes seven stops and a length of 25 km from Rimini station to Dogana. Some stations of the old line, now converted into residential areas, still remain. The project would connect to the coastal section of the TRC. The aim is to reduce road traffic and air pollution. This route, from the Riviera capital to the independent republic, has been known over time for its numerous accidents. The charm and functionality of rail transport may perhaps be revived.
