Painel 11 - Cadeia de Cromo, Refratários e Estanho

The production of refractories is essential for high-temperature industries such as steel, cement, glass, critical mineral metallurgy, and for the transition to a low-carbon economy. This panel discussed the industrial chain of magnesite and chromite. We explored how the production of tin chemical compounds and special alloys for industry has been driven by the high demand from data centers, Artificial Intelligence, and 5G infrastructure. We also discussed the role of tin in soldering electronic components and its essentiality for cybersecurity, mineral security, and technological sovereignty. The presentation addressed how this industrial chain has contributed to Brazil's leading role in this critical mineral and its target markets.
