During the month of August 2022 we visited the Skardu valley along with Astore & Minimarg. This video is all about the Upper & Lower Kachura Lakes. 1. Lower Kachura Lake (Urdu: زیریں کچورا جھیل), also known as Shangrila Lake (شنگریلا جھیل), is a lake located near the city of Skardu in Gilgit−Baltistan, Pakistan. Situated at a height of 2,500 metres (8,200 ft), it has had an operational resort on its bank since 1983 2. Upper Kachura Lake is of clear water and has a depth of 70 metres (230 ft). In summer it has a temperature of 15 °C (59 °F). In winter the surface is frozen solid. The upper Indus River flows nearby at a lower elevation. The beauty of the Upper Kachura Lake is almost untampered and mostly unexplored by travelers, due to lack of infrastructure owing to its rough terrain. I visited the Skardu & Astore in the month of August 2022.
