Theorem: Equal Chords of a Circle Subtend Equal Angles at the Centre Description (English): In a circle, if two chords are equal in length, then they subtend equal angles at the centre of the circle. Statement: If AB and CD are two equal chords of a circle with centre O, then: AB = CD ⇒ ∠AOB = ∠COD Explanation: Equal chords in the same circle are at the same distance from the centre. Therefore, the angles formed by joining the endpoints of these chords to the centre are also equal. Hence, equal chords subtend equal angles at the centre of the circle. Result: Equal chords of a circle always subtend equal angles at the centre.
