Webinar: Resolving crime without court: lessons from practice

How can the police resolve more crimes effectively, without resorting to the courts? Out of court resolutions have many benefits – for victims, for the justice system and for people who commit crime – but their use has declined in recent years. So, how can police forces reverse this trend? This webinar discusses findings from Transform Justice’s new report – Resolving crime without court: lessons from practice. The report details learnings from interviews with nine police forces from the top of Transform Justice’s crime resolution tracker, which ranks police forces by the proportion of out of court resolutions and outcome 22s they use versus charge. The report recommends practical ways police forces can improve and increase their use of OOCRs, such as streamlining administration and using a wide range of creative communication strategies.
