Tide Pool Exploration | Searching for Nudibranchs, Sea Stars, and Giant Snails

Join me in Monterey, California as I search for nudibranchs and other marine life. Nudibranchs, types of sea slugs, are my favorite sea creatures to find in the tide pools. As a marine biologist and naturalist I love exploring ocean life and making observations that inform on science. It's my passion to inspire others to get involved and become better stewards of your local environment - whether that be tide pools, rivers, lakes, or your bustling city! Some sea slug species, like the Hopkins rose nudibranch, can be indicators of changes in our ocean. Scientists have noticed their range is moving north with warm waters. However, it is impossible for researchers to work alone to monitor these changes. That is where community science comes in! Organizations are using community observations to increase data points to benefit marine science. If you want to get involved you can learn more at the link below. Or just document your observations to iNaturalist!
