CONFESIONES- SAN AGUSTIN

This source presents an edition of the Confessions of Saint Augustine of Hippo, published by Editorial Losada with a translation and preliminary study by Silvia Magnavacca. The text analyzes the structure of the work, rejecting the idea of a division between the autobiographical and doctrinal books and proposing instead a profound unity based on the recognition of divine greatness. The author uses the concept of spiritual movement to explain the soul's journey from dispersion in the temporal realm (distentio) to inner concentration (intentio) and, finally, its ascent to the eternal (extensio). In this way, the sources describe the Confessions not as a mere personal narrative, but as a spiritual and philosophical journey where humankind seeks its identity in the relationship with God. The analysis highlights that Augustine's work is a multifaceted document that integrates psychology, theology, and exceptional literary aesthetics under the guiding thread of divine mercy.
