The Alternate World of Eastern Oregon | Baker City, OR

We've returned to Oregon to spend one final day, but hold on... Here lies not the dense evergreen forests and riparian wonders. Instead, like its northern neighbor Washington, the eastern half of the Beaver State is rife with scrubland, aridity and sparser human populations. Later on, it became the foremost waypoint between the enormous cities of Portland and Salt Lake City. Throughout the 20th century, the city's inhabitants wrestled vehemently with a great conflict: the proper manner by which to identify their dear location! baker city oregon is sadly now a tad more insignificant than what once had been. Yet it's very easy to find traces of the past beautifully preserved in the form of characteristically rich landmarks and elaborate architecture. Alongside these features, mementos and attractions proudly commemorate the region's Oregon Trail heritage all across the city and its surroundings.
