#14 - Jak nie zatracić się w treningu i rywalizacji
In cycling, it's easy to cross the line between ambition and excess. In an interview with All Cycling Space, Tomasz Marczyński, multiple Polish champion and winner of two stages of the Vuelta a España, discusses his professional career, the price of striving for results, and the importance of balance between sport, health, and everyday life. At one stage in his career, Marczyński weighed every gram of food, meticulously counted calories, and dropped from his optimal weight of 68-69 kilograms to around 58 kilograms. For several months, he trained at a significant energy deficit, losing the strength, muscle mass, and energy needed for effective training. Only the reaction of his loved ones and the observation of his declining results allowed him to realize that trying to be more professional than the greatest professionals was leading him in the wrong direction. Tomasz Marczyński emphasizes that physical and mental health cannot be subordinated to a single result. He discusses working with sports psychologists, relaxation techniques, the importance of sleep, and learning to recognize the body's signals. In his opinion, a strong mind, the ability to rest, and maintain inner peace can be just as important as physical performance itself. In the podcast, we also discuss amateur cycling and the rivalry between former professionals and amateurs. Marczyński encourages setting sporting goals, training regularly, and engaging in competition, but emphasizes that cycling should, above all, bring joy. After retiring, he doesn't want to prove his superiority to competitors who balance training with work, family, and daily responsibilities. We also touch on overstimulation, social media, and the increasingly fast-paced lifestyle. Tomasz discusses why it's worth learning to ignore certain news, cutting off your phone, and consciously planning your recovery time. He also shares details about his projects, including the EQUIPO Cycling Spot in Krakow and the upcoming Casa del Loco in Spain. Listen to the full interview and learn how to maintain your athletic ambition without sacrificing your health, relationships, and the joy of cycling. #TomaszMarczynski #cycling #AllCyclingSpace
