Vania Moore, a well-known opponent of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, published two videos unjustly accusing President Rogério Finholdt and his wife, leaders of the Brazil Florianópolis Mission. Based on an anonymous letter from a supposed "therapist," Vania accused them of psychological abuse, intimidation, arbitrary rule-making, isolation of missionaries, and even neglect of youth care. Despite the sensationalist tone, her videos did not receive much attention, and many of her allegations lack solid foundation. It is important to remember that mission presidents and their wives are called by inspiration after long lives of service and dedication. They leave behind work, business, and even family life to serve voluntarily and selflessly for three years. The Finholdts have a history of faithful service in the Church, and many missionaries who served with them testify to the exact opposite of the accusations: they speak of care, love, spiritual concern, and emotional support during difficult times. Accusing dedicated leaders of being "sociopaths" or putting missionaries at risk without proof is irresponsible and dangerous. The Church takes any accusation very seriously and acts whenever necessary. But in this case, what we see is an attempt to destroy the reputation of a faithful couple and attack the good name of the Church. To those who watch, I invite you to reflect on the sacrifice of these leaders and how much they dedicate themselves to serving the Lord and blessing the lives of young missionaries.
