In this video, we’re diving into the assembly process—the final step in restoring one of these classic engines. This series isn’t meant to be a step-by-step guide, but rather a companion to the Honda service manual, providing additional insight to help you tackle your rebuild at home. CB350 / CL350 / SL350 Factory Service Manuals: https://support.common-motor.com/hc/e... In this video, we’re walking through the final steps of engine assembly. First, we assemble the cam chain tensioner. The plunger slides through the spring, with the flat side facing up. The screw, lock nut, and O-ring are installed and tightened until the plunger locks in place. Once assembled, the tensioner is installed with a fresh gasket, with grease applied for easier removal in the future. Next, the engine studs are torqued in the correct sequence from the Honda service manual. A bit of Gasgicinch is applied to the oil passage corners for a secure seal. The studs are torqued to 13 ft-lbs in two stages—80 inch-lbs first, followed by the full torque, repeating until the acorn nuts are secure. Moving on to the electric starter, it’s installed with a fresh O-ring, and the battery cable is connected to the positive terminal. The starter chain is wrapped around the starter clutch sprocket, and the starter is secured with two bolts. The left-side cover gasket is also installed, greased for easy removal later, and the stator wiring is routed into place. On the right side cover, the kickstart oil seal is installed. The washer and dowel pins are installed, followed by assembly lube on the clutch basket and crankshaft gears. The gasket is greased and cover installed with the cover bolts are tightened in a crisscross pattern. Finally, the oil filter access cover is installed with fresh O-rings, and the rocker arm shaft nuts and chromed covers are added. The valve covers and rotor cover is installed. The kickstarter shaft is secured with anti-seize, and the oil drain plug is put in place to wrap up the assembly.
