Their coat can range from pale cream (often called “blonde”) to rich fox-red. They are one of the most popular dog breeds in the United States and many other countries because of their friendly, outgoing personalities. Originally bred in Newfoundland to help fishermen retrieve nets and fish, Labradors are strong swimmers with water-resistant double coats and webbed feet. Blonde Labradors are known for being intelligent, easy to train, and eager to please, which makes them excellent family pets, service dogs, therapy dogs, and search-and-rescue dogs. Adult males typically weigh 65–80 pounds, while females usually weigh 55–70 pounds. They are energetic dogs that need regular exercise and mental stimulation.
