Życie w cieniu oskarżeń o zab***two męża – szczera rozmowa z Iloną Sikorą

May 2017, Jacek Sikora, a businessman from Silesia, disappears. July 2017, his body is found in a forest near Włocławek. An autopsy confirms: it wasn't an accident, it was murder. But... There are no witnesses. There is no murder weapon. There is no single, certain version of events. There is only her, the victim's wife. After about three years, Ilona Sikora is charged with the murder, even though investigators have no direct evidence. The prosecutor's office builds its case solely on circumstantial evidence. On what "could have happened." On what "fits the puzzle." The narrative is as follows: the murder occurred in the couple's home, and the body was removed and abandoned (likely with the help of a third party). Motive? Family conflict, property, inheritance. Does it sound "logical"? Yes. Does it sound like hard evidence? No. Ilona Sikora has pleaded not guilty from the outset. The defense argues: lack of evidence, chaos in the investigation, and an attempt to "stick the blame." In January 2025, the court acquits Ilona Sikora of murder. At the same time, the allegations of incitement to false testimony arise. The prosecutor's office files an appeal. A few months later, the Court of Appeal in Katowice reverses the acquittal and remands the case for retrial, citing errors in the lower court's assessment of the evidence. This isn't a story about "who killed." This is a story about how easily a narrative can be constructed without evidence, and about how, in circumstantial cases, the truth often loses out to a seemingly "logical narrative."
