Srinagar Railway Station Construction Update 2026 | Rapid Progress in Uttarakhand

Construction of the new Srinagar Railway Station in Uttarakhand is advancing at full speed. Major land leveling, excavation, and filling work has been completed at Ranihat, bringing the entire station yard to formation level. The station yard will span nearly 1.5 kilometres and feature five railway lines, including loop lines and freight facilities. The main station building will be located in the central portion, with ample parking and passenger amenities planned around it. Project engineers have strengthened the ground using layers of boulders and sand for long-term stability and proper drainage, especially given its location near the Alaknanda River. The upcoming railway line will connect via a bridge near Srinagar before entering the tunnel towards Dhari Devi. Officials are targeting significant progress within the next 18 to 24 months, with track laying and trial runs expected soon.
