APBA Baseball Handbook icon Ed Zack addresses 2023 tournament at Baseball Hall of Fame #Cooperstown

I kept this video private for three years – but it feels as though perhaps now is the right time to share it more broadly than among the group of folks who took part. In mid-March, a couple of weeks before our tournament at the ‪@baseballhall‬ in Cooperstown on April 1, 2023, I emailed Mr. Zack to ask if he'd close the event with a video call with the gang of about 20 attendees – at least half of them APBA Hall of Famers. (Earlier in March, Ed had been informed of the latest progress on the digital version of his handbook (zackapbahandbook.org) and rightfully received an outpouring of praise and well-wishes.) Despite his health struggles (he passed a few months after this conversation), he responded simply: "Sure, I'd be happy to! What do I need to do and when." Minutes after Steve "Festgrber" Ryan (Class of 2021) won this inaugural event after a series of improbable contests, Mr. Zack (Class of 2001) spoke with us. I deferred to John Cochrane (Class of 2009) to steer the dialogue. You'll recognize many of the folks who took turns conversing with Ed or hearing his stories as a way of passing the torch.
