天然ボケって何?|文脈からズレると笑いになる理由

What exactly is "natural absentmindedness"? The person speaking is serious. They're not trying to be funny. But for some reason, those around them laugh. What's going on? This clip discusses how natural absentmindedness can be understood from a psychological perspective. In the video, Mr. Iwano explains that, simply put, absentmindedness is "something completely off-topic." To put it in more psychological terms, it's a state where someone makes a statement or takes an action that's slightly out of place considering the context of the situation. Many people predict, based on the flow and atmosphere of the situation, "The next topic will be this," or "They'll probably act this way here." When something happens that deviates from that prediction, people react with "Huh?" This unexpectedness can lead to laughter. Comedians intentionally create this discrepancy. In other words, it's artificial absentmindedness. On the other hand, natural absentmindedness is not something the person intends to do; it's a kind of humor that arises from a natural misunderstanding of context or a discrepancy in their choice of actions. The video includes some of Mr. Iwano's own natural absentminded anecdotes. Bringing a watermelon as a thank you gift. Sending ham as a year-end gift. Taking a large bamboo basket on public transport to class. From his perspective, some parts of these actions are in line with the context. He wants to express his gratitude. He wants to make the recipient happy. He's bringing necessary items for class. However, from the perspective of those around him, the effort he puts in and his choice of items are slightly off, leading to laughter with comments like, "Wait, you're going that far?" In other words, natural absentmindedness isn't completely nonsensical; it might be a state where some parts are correct, but something is slightly off. This video is a compilation for people who have been called naturally absentminded, people who know naturally absentminded people, people who want to know why they get laughed at even when they're not trying, and people interested in the relationship between humor and context. ▼Table of Contents 00:00 Opening: A viewer's letter: "What's the psychological explanation for 'natural absentmindedness'?" 00:49 Psychological explanation of natural absentmindedness: Context and inappropriate behavior 01:21 The difference between natural and artificial (comedian) absentmindedness 01:40 Why is natural absentmindedness funny?
