City Park 2 on Jalan Raya Viktor, Buaran, Serpong, South Tangerang, has once again come under public scrutiny. The Green Open Space (RTH) and Cultural Center, touted as a center for creativity, are instead plagued by misuse of facilities, including the demolition of dimly lit stalls. The tragic story of this public facility began with the stalling of the iconic "Bamboo House" project. The building, located in the Tangsel Cultural Center area, has been abandoned due to the abandonment of its contractor, PT Nabati Indah Sejahtera. This project, which cost a staggering Rp 7.1 billion (approximately US$700,000) from the 2015 Tangsel City Regional Budget (APBD), has been in the spotlight. Rather than providing a platform for artists to express themselves, the stalled construction has fueled the misuse of public facilities. The bamboo structure is often used by young people and even cheating couples as a venue for lewd behavior. Local residents often catch visitors engaging in excessive affection, though the perpetrators often escape social sanctions due to their crying and pleading demands to be released. Unfortunately, there has been no concrete action from the South Tangerang City Government, and several relevant agencies have even shifted responsibility for managing these deplorable facilities. This situation seems to reflect the chaotic management of social and public facilities (fasos-fasum) in the area. Today, Monday (June 22, 2026), the South Tangerang City Public Order Unit (Satpolpp) finally conducted a cleanup operation against three food stalls that had been converted into karaoke venues. The Head of the Tangsel Satpolpp Law Enforcement Division (Gakunda), Indra Gunawan, stated that this operation was prompted by reports and a viral video from the public indicating a social ill. "Judging from yesterday's video, there's definitely an indication of alcohol in the karaoke," said Indra, accompanied by the Head of Public Order (Tibum), Anhar, and the Head of Water Resources (SDA) of the SDABMBK Agency, Eka Pribawa. Ironically, when they were about to take firm action, the South Tangerang Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) failed to demolish the "Bamboo House" building, which went viral several years ago in Zone 2 of the Taman Kota 2 area. According to Anhar, the former local sub-district secretary, the demolition was postponed due to electricity issues. "The problem is with PLN, sir. PLN didn't show up," Anhar stated in unison, echoed by Indra and Eka. Meanwhile, regarding the three karaoke stalls demolished in Taman Jaletreng, Indra confirmed that they were illegal and unlicensed. "No matter how long they want to get permits, they won't be able to do so, because this is public facilities land, so they won't be able to leave," he asserted. Regarding the fate of the remaining stall vendors, including the proliferation of similar structures in Zone 1, the South Tangerang City Government has yet to identify a definitive relocation site.
