I'm a woman in my early twenties (though I've never had a boyfriend), so I thought I'd take a taxi home, but it seemed like a lot of people had the same idea, as the taxi stand had a huge line and all the taxis were gone. I wasn't that drunk, and I figured it would only take about 30 minutes to walk home even on well-lit streets, so I decided to walk. By the way, at the time I was living with my parents, and my mother would take in stray cats, have them spayed/neutered, and find homes for them, and many cats had been adopted from my house. That's the background. Feeling pleasantly tipsy, I was walking past an empty lot near my house when a beautiful, pure white cat appeared in front of me and rubbed against me. I absolutely love cats, so I was like, "Cat!" and excitedly started stroking it. Then another spotted cat came over and rolled over beside me. More cats! I was stroking them excitedly when a black cat emerged from the corner of the empty lot and started meowing, causing the spotted cat to retreat back into the lot. Could this be the legendary cat meeting? I thought, but I didn't want to interrupt, so I stopped petting them and tried to go home. Then the white cat started meowing at me and circling my feet, blocking my way. "Hey, I can't go home!" And so, I ended up joining the cat meeting. Looking around carefully, I noticed a cat that looked familiar... or rather, a black and white cat with a split face that we had rescued and rehomed, participating with eye discharge and a runny nose. How did I recognize her? Because this black and white cat, despite being a female, has a sadly unfortunate face and a distinctive cry. But she has a good temperament; she's a gentle and cute cat. I quickly picked her up and found she had injured her leg. I carried her home, woke my mother who was fast asleep, and while she called a hospital that provides late-night consultations and treatments, I wiped away the eye discharge and runny nose, and thoroughly examined her body for any other problems, discovering a lump-like growth. In the end, I took her to the hospital, where she received various treatments for her leg injury, IV fluids, and tests. It was past 5:30 in the morning when we got home. When I got home, I was worried about how the cat would get along with the other cats and the possibility of it being an FIV carrier, so I cleaned the room and did all sorts of things to make space for the cat, and by the time I got there it was past 8 AM. I tried to contact the adoptive family, but the phone wasn't connecting. I went to their address just to talk to them, but there was no sign of anyone. I asked the neighbors, and they said the cat had run away in the middle of the night. I was devastated that the cat was abandoned! But I decided that I would raise it myself. In the end, it wasn't infected with FIV, the lump wasn't serious, and its leg injury healed completely, so it became a member of our family. When I visited my parents' house with my child for the first time in a while, I saw that black and white cat cooling off in front of the fan, and it reminded me of that ordeal, so I'm writing this.
