Can You Charge a LiFePO4 Battery Off a Power Station Inverter? I Tested It!

Can you really charge a LiFePO4 battery off a power station inverter? I've always said it's inefficient — but I decided to stop guessing and actually test it. Folks, the results might surprise you. Here's the full setup: I connected my XZNY 25.6v LiFePO4 battery into the Aferiy P280's solar input port with a 30-amp breaker between the battery and the power station and a 100A terminal fuse on the battery for safety. The battery fed 500W into the Aferiy via the solar input while a ceramic heater pulled 850W out — running the external battery down to about 30% SoC and the Aferiy down to 85%. That's the discharge phase done. Then I tested the recharge. First, two 400W panels wired in parallel into one of the Aferiy P280's solar input ports — yes, I was over-paneling that port by 200W, and I show you exactly what happened. Then I added a third 400W panel into the second solar input port and watched 850W of combined solar input roll in. Once the Aferiy climbed back to 96%, I plugged my 1,000W BatteryEvo 24v LiFePO4 battery charger into the Aferiy's 120v AC output and let it rip — 850W solar in, 850W out to the charger simultaneously.
