Bill Evans: African Akonting
Bill Evans performs "Si Jan Jan Si Jamboukan" & "Alinaume" on the African Akonting. The akonting is a three-stringed instrument that is played today in Senegal and Gambia. Note the similarity in playing technique to clawhammer-style banjo. Thanks to Paul Sedgwick for making these instruments more easily avaiable within the United States and for writing his great introductory playing manual!
