2026 Honda NC750X DCT 4th Ride | Slow Speed Practice
This is my 4th ride on the 2026 Honda NC750X DCT, and this one is less about scenery or freeway riding and more about basic rider control. For this ride, I take the NC750X about a quarter mile down the road to a nearby middle school parking lot so I can spend time practicing slow-speed motorcycle skills in a safe, open area. Since I’m still getting comfortable as a newer motorcycle rider, I wanted to work on the things that matter most before getting too confident on the road: low-speed balance, smooth throttle control, controlled braking, turning, figure 8s, and general maneuvering. The Honda NC750X DCT has been a great bike for me so far because the DCT transmission removes the clutch/shifting part of the learning curve, but that does not mean the bike rides itself. You still have to learn body position, brake control, steering input, balance, and how the bike reacts at walking speeds. This practice session is about building those basics. In this video I work through slow-speed maneuvers including: • Riding slowly through the parking lot • Practicing tight turns • Working on figure 8s • Getting more comfortable with the bike’s balance point • Practicing 20 mph to 0 braking • Feeling how the front and rear brakes behave • Getting used to the NC750X DCT at parking-lot speeds • Building confidence before longer rides and heavier traffic Slow-speed practice is not the most glamorous part of motorcycle riding, but it is probably one of the most important parts. It is easy to ride in a straight line once the bike is moving. The harder part is being smooth when the bike is barely moving, making tight turns without getting tense, stopping cleanly, and learning how to stay relaxed while the motorcycle feels heavy underneath you. This is also part of my larger learning process with the 2026 Honda NC750X DCT, which is my 21st Honda over the years. I’ve owned a long list of Honda and Acura cars, but this is my first real step into Honda motorcycles. The NC750X DCT appealed to me because it is practical, comfortable, fuel-efficient, and approachable while still being a full-size motorcycle. The automatic-style DCT transmission also makes it a lot less intimidating for someone coming back to riding or learning later in life. This ride is not a polished training video or expert tutorial. It is just me working through the real process of getting better on a new bike. Some of it is repetitive, some of it is awkward, and some of it is just basic practice, but that is the point. This is the part people often skip over when they only show the fun rides, mountain roads, or perfect camera angles. The goal is simple: build better control, get more comfortable with the NC750X, and become a safer rider one session at a time. This video is part of the GEN-X Honda Stories project, where I document my long history with Honda vehicles, from the cars I owned over the last 35+ years to this new chapter with the 2026 Honda NC750X DCT. This bike is Honda #21 for me, and it represents a different kind of Honda story: not another Civic, Prelude, S2000, CR-V, Pilot, or Acura, but my first serious Honda motorcycle experience. On this channel, I talk about the vehicles, the stories behind them, the ownership experience, and now the process of learning to ride and getting comfortable on the NC750X DCT. This is not a professional motorcycle review channel. It is more of a real-world owner journal from someone who has loved Honda products for decades and is now figuring out the motorcycle side of it. Thanks for watching.
