Experience the Magic of Machu Picchu, It’s a Must!
On day 4 of our ACIS trip through Peru, we took the 2-hour train to Aguas Calientes for an overnight stay and then take the 30-minute bus ride up to Machu Picchu early in the morning on day 5. We were hoping the rain would stop and the fog would lift in order to experience the full wonder of Machu Picchu, one of the most breathtaking archaeological sites in the world and a true masterpiece of the Inca civilization. In fact, perched high in the Andes Mountains, this ancient citadel remained hidden from the outside world for centuries until its rediscovery by Hiram Bingham in 1911. In the journey up the mountain, you could hear the excitement of the first view of Machu Picchu and when it happened, all you could hear was, Oh My God! and the cameras clicking. At our arrival to the site, we entered with anticipation. As you walk through its narrow stone pathways, you discover agricultural terraces carved into the mountainside, temples aligned with the sun, and structures so precisely built that not even a blade of grass can pass between the stones. As the morning mist slowly lifts, the ruins reveal themselves… and in that moment, you realize—this isn’t just a destination. It’s a feeling. A connection to something far greater than ourselves. Our guide, gave us time to take pictures of the beautiful views and experience the magic and legacy the Inca’s left for us to admire. We explored the incredible terraces, temples, and stone structures that have stood the test of time, all surrounded by dramatic mountain peaks and misty clouds Surrounded by lush green peaks and often wrapped in mist, Machu Picchu feels like a place suspended in time—where history, nature, and mystery all come together. From the iconic views to the rich history and mystery behind its purpose, Machu Picchu is more than a destination—it’s an unforgettable experience. In fact, Machu Picchu is a place that truly lives up to the hype. It is a must in your lifetime!
