Star Wars Fans Waited 7 Years For A Bad Movie... (The Mandalorian and Grogu) | Nerd Legion

The Mandalorian & Grogu is not a good movie. It has a James Bond cold open that made both hosts genuinely excited, and then it spends two hours systematically destroying that goodwill with flat performances, cartoon-level writing, and a villain nobody asked for. MonteCristo and DoA break down how Dave Filoni turned Mandalorian Season 4 into a feature film that's 45 minutes too long, wastes its entire cast, and accidentally commits genocide. Every actor in this movie sounds like they were hit with a tranquilizer gun before filming. Sigourney Weaver delivers the worst performance of her career. Pedro Pascal may not even be in the suit for 90% of his scenes. And Jeremy Allen White's Rotta the Hutt is an abomination: bad writing, bad animation, bad delivery, and a face that looks like someone tried to make a slug look like the guy from The Bear. The character repeats the same "I want to forge my own path" speech in every scene he's in, which is ironic given that his path is murdering people in gladiatorial arenas. The real tragedy is the missed opportunity. Three seasons of Mandalorian groundwork, an Ahsoka storyline building toward Thrawn, Skeleton Crew setting up new threads, and Filoni used none of it. Instead he resurrected Stinky, his Clone Wars movie McGuffin from 15 years ago, and built an entire film around him. Then the New Republic blew up a building full of uninvolved Hutts, ending a thousand-year criminal empire with one X-wing squadron.
