A Sure Foundation | Joshua Manning | Grace Chapel

This powerful message challenges us to examine what truly serves as the foundation of our faith. Drawing from 1 Corinthians 3:4-11, we're confronted with a timeless truth: our tendency to confuse servants with the Savior, to attach ourselves to personalities rather than to Christ Himself. The Corinthian church struggled with spiritual immaturity, dividing themselves based on which leader they followed—Paul or Apollos. Sound familiar? We too can fall into the trap of building our faith around charismatic leaders, preferred worship styles, or comfortable traditions rather than on the unchanging foundation of Jesus Christ. The gardening metaphor is particularly striking: some plant, others water, but God alone gives the growth. This reminds us that every season of ministry, every transition, every change is part of God's design. The message beautifully emphasizes that change itself is woven into creation—God is the immovable mover who remains constant while everything else shifts and develops. What matters isn't who leads us or what programs we prefer, but whether we're saying yes to what God is doing right now, in this moment. When we grasp this truth, we find freedom from defending personalities and peace in knowing that Christ remains the same yesterday, today, and forever.
