The Synth Project Episode 51: Audio Mixer Part 2 - The VU Meter

The VU meter is an important element in a mixer, it is not just a fancy embellishment. In fact, the VU meter allows us to adjust the level of all the input signals, and the overall volume, such that the output signal will not exceed the maximum level allowed by the amplifier to which the mixer output is connected. In this video we will examine the schematic of the VU Meter, we will test a prototype in lab, we will build the actual unit that will fit into the module case, and we will test such unit with the help of a function generator.
