ASICS Trabuco Max 5 Review | Too Much Shoe?

Is the ASICS Trabuco Max 5 the ultimate max-cushioned trail running shoe, or is it simply too much shoe? In this review, I take the Trabuco Max 5 out onto the trails to see how it performs across mixed terrain, muddy paths, gravel, climbs, descents and longer steady efforts. With a big stack of cushioning, a strong rocker design and plenty of protection underfoot, this is clearly a shoe built for comfort, long runs and ultra training — but that does come with a few compromises. I’ll be breaking down the traction, comfort, stability, fit, rocker, climbing performance and where I think this shoe works best — as well as where it starts to struggle. For long trail days, easy off-road miles and ultra training, the Trabuco Max 5 has a lot going for it. But if you want a nimble, precise technical trail shoe, it might not be the one. Let me know in the comments if you’ve run in the ASICS Trabuco Max 5 — is it a brilliant long-distance trail cruiser, or just too much shoe? Thanks for watching, and until the next one — be the best you.
