La Grande Traversée des Alpes GTA par le GR5 : cols, rencontres, jardin secret

The Great Crossing of the Alps (GTA) by the GR5. A testimony on the mountain, the encounters, the atmosphere and... my secret garden. A so-called "classic and integral" GTA from Lake Geneva (Saint Gingolph) to Nice entirely by the GR5. The link between these massifs already visited; Mont-Blanc, Beaufortain, Vanoise, Queyras, Mercantour, ... A crossing covered in semi-autonomy and solo (except for a day and a half) for one week in July 2020 and two weeks in July 2021. In total, 21 and a half days of walking were necessary for: 27,647 m. of elevation gain, 683 kms, a maximum altitude of 3072 m. at Pointe des Fours. 3 extras to the GR5 for fun and which added difficulties: The Col du Grand Fond & Vallon du Presset, the Pointe des Fours and the Col de Furfande. Lots of pleasure in the mountains, good physical sensations and also attendance at a fairly high pace of long days of walking with an average of 1750 m. of elevation gain per day.
