In the presence of New Taipei City Mayor Hou You-yi, Premier Cho Jung-tai, and local representatives, the 12 stations along the line were officially illuminated, marking the official launch and operation of New Taipei City's first self-operated medium-capacity MRT system. Free trial rides for two months during the summer vacation are offered to citizens as a way of giving back. The public is welcome to come and experience it. --- By placing a token, the Sanying Line officially opened today, June 30th. New Taipei City Mayor Hou You-yi, Premier Cho Jung-tai, and local representatives were present to witness the official launch of New Taipei City's first self-operated medium-capacity MRT system. New Taipei City Mayor Hou Yu-ih expressed his gratitude to the successive city government teams, the central government, and engineering partners for their joint efforts in ensuring the timely opening of the San-Ying Line. He announced a two-month free trial period during the summer vacation for those with electronic tickets, as a way of giving back to the citizens and welcoming the public to experience the line. The San-Ying Line faced numerous challenges from planning to opening. Construction traversed national highways, Taiwan Railways, and the Dahan River, and also encountered difficulties such as the pandemic, labor and material shortages, and rising raw material costs. Premier Cho Jung-tai also attended the opening ceremony to congratulate the city and commend the cooperation between the central and local governments in completing this important MRT line, which combines cultural, tourism, and transportation functions. Hou Yu-ih stated that the San-Ying Line is the fourth line to open during his term, following the Circular Line, the Danhai Light Rail, and the Ankeng Light Rail. This brings New Taipei City's total MRT mileage to 108 kilometers and 90 stations, ranking first in the country. Future plans for New Taipei City include the Wanda-Zhonghe Line, the Tucheng-Shulin Line, the Northern Ring Line, the Xidong Line, the Keelung MRT, and the extension of the San-Ying Line to Bade, all aimed at gradually improving the rail network in northern Taiwan. The opening of the Sanying Line not only improves commuting, but also connects the New Taipei City Art Museum, Yingge Ceramics Old Street, Sanxia Old Street, and the Taipei University area, making transportation infrastructure a new engine for tourism and urban development.
