Named after the 10th Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the fort has now been developed into a major tourist destination. The best time to visit Qila Gobindgarh is from October to March. The weather is pleasant during this time and you will enjoy. Qila Gobindgarh is open from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm daily. If you visit this fort in the evening time, then you can enjoy evening lights and sound show here. The rest of the show is also called the "Sher-e-Punjab" 7D Show. In this show you can see glimpses of Maharaja Ranjit Singh's history. Videography is not allowed in this show. Apart from this there is also the Toshakhana of Maharaja Ranjit Singh here. Where it is said that the Maharaja use to keep his precious jewellery at that time. The priceless Kohinoor Diamond was also kept in this toshakhana for sometime. Later, the British Rulers took this Kohinoor with them to London. There is also the Warfare Musium, where weapons of that era are displayed and there is the Pagri Musium dedicated centre showcasing the evolution and culural significance of Punjabi Turbans.
