Izolda abre jogo sobre 2022: acordo rompido, machismo e a crise que dividiu os Ferreira Gomes

We had wanted to interview former Ceará governor Izolda Cela (PT) for some time. She held the position between April and December 2022, after more than 7 years as vice-governor to Camilo Santana. The first woman to hold this position, she was prevented from running for re-election by a decision of her then-party, the PDT, which at the time nominated former mayor Roberto Cláudio (who was defeated in that election by the current governor Elmano de Freitas, of the PT). The PDT's decision led to the rupture of the Ferreira Gomes political group, with Ciro and Cid Gomes on opposite sides ever since. In the podcast, we had already heard some "sides" of this story: some politicians arguing that Izolda should have been a candidate because there was an agreement between Camilo, Cid, and Ciro; and others saying no, that this agreement never existed and that the party decided to support Roberto Cláudio because he was the most competitive name. Now (finally!), we hear the side of the protagonist of this story, Izolda Cela, who until now had not detailed what happened on that occasion. The account includes details about the political maneuvering and tensions of 2022, about her candidacy for mayor of Sobral in 2024, and about her time at the Ministry of Education as executive secretary between 2023 and 2024. The conversation was revealing and important in giving visibility to the woman who held the highest office in the State of Ceará.
