In the modified plank, you're on your knees and elbows, with your entire spine (from head to bottom) straight and in a neutral position. Your shoulders are pulled back and down. You don't arch your pelvis. The classic plank is similar to an elbow push-up. You stand in this position. There are more advanced variations of this exercise. Start with one set of 1 to 6 reps. Hold this position for at least 10 seconds, gradually working up to a minute. Rest for 30 to 90 seconds.
