A New Stihl Fuel Injected Chainsaw! The MS300i

Have you ever wondered what a smaller, mid-size professional-grade fuel-injected Stihl chainsaw would be like? In today’s Purple Collar Life video, I’m sharing my thoughts of the Stihl 300i FI - fuel injected — a scaled-down version of the legendary MS 500i. #chainsaw #fuelinjected #ms261 #ms500i ‪@stihlusa‬ ‪@Stihl‬ #ms300i #purplecollarlife This is NOT a real Stihl model… but after running my MS261C and seeing how well fuel injection works on the 500i, I couldn’t help but imagine what a 50cc class, fuel-injected Stihl saw might be like. In this video, we take a look at: 🔸 Advantages of fuel injection in a chainsaw 🔸 Power to weight ratio of small professional chainsaws 🔸 The cost of the 500i fuel injection power 🔸 Hypothetical customer base for a 300i saw 🔸 Why a mid-size fuel-injected saw would be a game changer 🔸 How it would compare to the MS 261C and MS 291 🔸 And how it could become the ultimate firewood saw If Stihl ever releases a smaller fuel-injected chainsaw, this is exactly how I picture it. 💬 Comment below: Would YOU buy a Stihl 300i if it ever became reality? What features would you want to see? Thanks for watching, and welcome back to Purple Collar Life! Fuel Injected. Compact. Professional. Meet the Stihl 300i…? Everyone knows the Stihl 500i is a beast — absolute powerhouse — but honestly, it’s too much saw for a homesteader like me. And the 261? Nearly perfect… but imagine this: all the benefits of pro-grade fuel injection, the size of a ranch saw, and the responsiveness of the big boys. That’s where the Stihl 300i comes in. Or… does it? Let’s talk about what a 300i should be — and why Stihl needs to build it. Why Fuel Injection Matters. Instant throttle response. Automatic altitude/fuel mix tuning. Better cold starting. No carb adjustments. Consistent power under load. Modern emission/efficiency improvements. Why the 500i proved FI works in handheld saws. Firewood people, homesteaders, weekend cutters would benefit — but don’t need 500i size/weight. The Problem With the 500i for Small Landowners: Heavy for limbing, Expensive (very), Overkill for 12–16" wood. Fatigue factor on long cutting sessions. Not ideal as an “only saw” for average users. Why the 261 Is Almost Perfect: Weight. Balance. Proven reliability. Power-to-size. It’s the ideal “one saw solution” — except that it lacks fuel injection. What a Stihl 300i Should Be 50–55cc class Fuel Injected (like the 500i but scaled down) Slightly more power than the 261 Same or lighter weight Optional heated handles M-Tronic style digital fuel management with FI Toolless filter access More efficient fuel use “Farm & Ranch Plus” level durability Why Stihl Should Build the 300i The mid-size market is huge. Homesteaders want pro features without pro size. FI chainsaws will eventually trickle down anyway. A 300i would be a top-seller. Is Stihl making this? I have no idea. But they should. And if you agree, hit like so maybe Stihl will finally make the saw we all want. This isn’t a real saw — yet. But this is exactly what the next generation of chainsaws should look like. --------------------------------- Please subscribe to our channel here: https://www.youtube.com/c/PurpleColla...
