It's a tool. And tools can be used to for good or for evil... Tuning Freddie Mercury is evil! Even if his voice isn't pitch perfect (Wait! He has REALLY good pitch!) ...Trying to fix something that is not in any way broken completely sucks the life out of what we could have experienced as a genuine expression in the way Freddie really sings! He doesn't need help! Nothing needs fixed! Then why do we feel the need to 'perFECT' every vocalist with pitch correction? How is this effecting the art of music in a broader sense? How does it unconsciously play into the inadequacies and fear we struggle with as artists and singers? These are great questions to ask! I discuss them in detail as I compare and contrast Freddie's tuned voice on "Face It Alone" with a raw isolated vocal recording of "Love Of My Life" that has no pitch correction on it.
