This course vlog serves as a preview of the course at Inwood Country Club, which will be hosting the 2023 U.S. Hickory Open (USHO) - the most prestigious national championship for hickory golfers each year conducted by the Society of Hickory Golfers. The 2023 event is regionally organized by the Metropolitan Hickory Society, which is the largest regional hickory golf group in the NY, NJ, PA area. Williams and Paletti are both members of the MHS, with Paletti currently serving as the group's Assistant Captain. This course vlog was filmed with the permission of Inwood Country Club. Golf at Inwood C.C. dates back to 1901 when the original 9-hole course was laid out on a potato farm. It was expanded to 18 holes in 1906 by Edward Eriksen, but it wasn't until the 1910s that the course began to take shape as a championship venue. Head pros Herbert Strong and Jack Mackie are credited with spearheading the steady transformation that culminated in Inwood hosting the 1921 PGA Championship that was won by Walter Hagen. In 1923, major championship golf returned to Inwood in the form of the U.S. Open, which was won in dramatic fashion by Bobby Jones. Tied with Bobby Cruickshank after four rounds, Jones won the tournament on the 18th hole of a playoff thanks to a 2-iron "shot heard 'round the world" that he stuck to within six feet of the cup. Cruickshank couldn't keep up on the hole and Jones won by two strokes to claim his first of 13 major championships and first of four U.S. Open titles. To commemorate the 100th anniversary of Jones' victory, Inwood was pleased to welcome the Society of Hickory Golfers and serve as the host site for its annual national championship, the U.S. Hickory Open.
