2020 post birth #covid19 #video

I was 4 months into being a new mother, yet I still made 80 Christmas cards to mail out to people I know. At the same time, I was dedicated to finishing the semester at the college I taught at in New Haven, CT a month after having a major c-section. They had to put a beeper on me while in the maternity ward since I nearly scared the nursing station staff for walking after my c-section. I didn’t like laying in the hospital bed stagnant and so I kept getting up to walk to the kitchenette suite to grab ice cubes for my water and the snacks while walking to check on the tiny infant. The same thing happened to me a few years prior when I kept getting up to walk after being under surgery for 7 hours for restructuring an organ. This was footage of me with my headphones during the 2020 COVID lockdowns. As any post birth lady, the body was starting to shed my hairline at exactly the 3 month period. I made a joke at my then essential worker job cleaning a facility of a Fortune 500 company, that people are going to act like pts-covid for 5 years due to the abrupt interruption of what everyone was used to doing. I brought up Henrietta Lacks because her DNA cells were used for the vaccine breakthroughs that were released to the masses. As someone who was very anti- vaccination most of my life, I also know that God created medicine, as well as science. I saw and heard lot of crazy stuff in that time, from a couple putting produce plastic bags on their heads for protection , a dude dressed up as “ the Mandalorian” , a lady going into rage mode throwing raw meat down an aisle when ration limits went into effect, a dude buying $4k of the entire meat department to store it in a man cave fridge, a man and lady screaming they wished for death of one another from Covid due to the six feet of social distancing rule( unbeknownst I had to say goodbye to a relative by iPad feed from a hospital due to Covid wiping them out from underlying health issues). A person saying that I was “lucky that I was Black,” because it is in my “Black DNA to be immune in not contracting Covid. “ The dude in the pick up truck doing donuts in the parking lot over cutting the line. Those are memories I am certain will get picked up as some future dystopian film. That was truly a time where customer service was a circus indeed.
