Joseph Fourier was a French mathematician who studied heat transfer in the 19th century. He developed a method by which any form can be built using different wave forms (sine and cosine functions). Today Fourier series form an indispensable tool for sound and image editing. In this video I explain how one constucts Fourier series. I also mention that the building blocks of the series (the sine and cosine functions) form the basis of an infinite-dimensional Hilbert space.
