This is not another hill road like Kodai, Yercaud, etc. in terms of safety. Kallati Road is more slippery and diagonal, which is the main reason for frequent accidents on these hairpin bends. The year 2018 has changed the total perspective on this road by causing a major accident and taking the lives of five out of seven. The group of seven people came from Chennai, Tamil Nadu, to Ooty for tourism purposes. They had been heading towards Masinagudi on the Ertiga when the car rammed into the 50-60 feet, side of the road, crashing the barricades.
