SPEAKING Examiner Questions: May I see your identification? What is your full name? Do you work or study? What do you like to do at the weekends? PART 1 Let’s talk about your hometown. Where is your hometown located? Could you tell me about your hometown? What do you like most about living there? Where should a tourist visit in your hometown? How has your hometown changed over the years? If you could change one aspect of your hometown, what would it be? PART 2 Talk about a study strategy that you have used to improve your learning? You should say: What is this learning methodology? When and why did you start doing this? How has this study practice impacted your learning and school performance? Can you improve this method in any way? You will have one to two minutes to talk about this topic. You will have one minute to prepare what you are going to say. PART 3 Let’s talk about effective learning. In your opinion, what makes one study strategy more effective than another? Can traditional study methods compete with modern technological learning tools in terms of effectiveness? How important is it to tailor study strategies to individual needs? Can you give an example of a situation where a personalized approach to learning was particularly beneficial? Do you believe that cultural background can influence preferred study methods? Quick recap This meeting was an IELTS speaking practice session led by Adrian, where several students practiced speaking exercises in different parts of the IELTS exam. Kevin participated first and demonstrated strong English skills with detailed responses about his hometown Hanoi and study strategies, receiving positive feedback from Adrian who suggested he was performing at Band 9 level. Omit then joined but experienced audio technical difficulties, though he managed to discuss his multi-sensory learning strategy despite some nervousness and pronoun errors. Ayesha participated next, showing confidence in Part 3 questions about effective learning strategies and the role of technology in education. Finally, Minh Huan Tung joined and attempted Part 3 questions despite expressing self-doubt about his English skills, with Adrian providing guidance on answering questions about technology's impact on traditional study methods. Summary Travel and Transportation Impact Discussion Adrian hosted a meeting and welcomed several participants including Kevin. Kevin shared that he is trying to travel less due to high petrol prices and is walking more, which has affected his ability to exercise as frequently. Adrian commented on the historical shift from camels and horses to airplanes, joking that they might return to horses if gas prices continue to rise. IELTS Speaking Interview Assessment Adrian conducted an IELTS speaking interview with Kevin, focusing on parts one and two of the exam. Kevin discussed his weekend activities, which involve reviewing learned content to better retain information, and shared his appreciation for Hanoi's blend of modernity and tradition. When asked about tourist attractions in Hanoi, Kevin recommended visiting the Old Quarter for its culinary experiences. Regarding potential changes to his hometown, Kevin suggested removing the unsightly and dangerous spiderwebs of electrical cables overhead.
