Yang Tai Chi 108-Move Form Run-Through

The form is performed in a distinct large frame style for the benefit of Meaford tai chi beginner students to use as a training guide, and to everyone else interested in exploring these arts. You may notice slight variations to some movements to account for different ways one could execute the same movement (single whip, brush knee (twist step), wave hands like clouds, toe/lotus kick). Incorporating breathing is beyond the beginner level, but is included for completeness. Breathing is abbreviated as follows: IN - is inhale EX - is exhale and I will not say anything for holding full or empty breaths. Time stamps: 0:23 Opening 1:11 Lute and white crane 3:41 Wave hands like clouds 4:38 Repulse monkeys 5:56 Needle at sea bottom 6:55 Clouds part 2 7:34 Kick sequence 8:24 Fair lady weaves shuttles 10:33 White snake creeps down to lotus/back kick Full description of the form in my notes which students will have received. The form is one aspect of tai chi practice. Additional exercises to practice include: warm-ups, embodying relevant philosophy, standing meditation, qigong, balance, applications, and lastly but most importantly, enjoying your practice. Performed at the end of the March 23rd and March 25th 2026 tai chi class. Thanks to the impromptu camera crew from Monday (Nora and Andrew) and Wednesday (Fiona and Martin). Sending much gratitude to Dave Houston who taught this form 20 years ago in Etobicoke Ontario. Anyone who may have insight into the background of this unique 'pa-kua' variation, I am both curious and would be grateful to know, as I have only vague clues.
