I made Kirby with a Literal Black Hole Mouth

In this video, a childhood memory of playing Super Smash Bros morphed into a full-blown cosmic horror wood carving. I’m taking a massive block of wood and power carving it into a terrifying, Eldritch-inspired Kirby. To capture the ultimate cosmic nightmare effect, I hand-carved a massive gaping mouth and coated the interior with Musou Black—a paint that absorbs 99.4% of light—creating a literal black hole event horizon face that devours a spaghettified clay star. This build was a massive technical challenge, combining heavy power carving, detailed Dremel work, and air-dry clay sculpting to create wood with a real personality. Why do most makers build character sculptures out of foil, wire, and clay armatures? Because it’s easier. But wire armatures have no soul. That’s why I prefer "wood-forward" mixed-media art builds—carving the core personality out of solid wood before bringing in the clay for details. Let me know in the comments: Do you prefer the weight and soul of a wood-forward build, or is the clay-and-wire route the way to go?
