A Walking Tour of East Middle School (Westminster, MD)

This video walks you through the entire building of the former Westminster East Middle School (1975 - 2023) and Westminster High School (1936 - 1971). It was recorded in May of 2023 just months before demolition, site work for the bus loop, additional parking and sidewalks for the new replacement East Middle School. This archived recording was one of many agreements made between the Carroll County Board of Education and the Maryland Historical Trust to memorialize and honor this building's features and history. This video is now available to alumni, staff and the community. The current version includes special music from Herb Sell, Westminster High School's Music Teacher and Choral Director from 1957 - 1992. Herb is still rockin' the keys to this day in his 90's and brought many stars to perform at WHS such as Count Basie, Duke Ellington and Jester Hairston. Thank you Herb from all of us!
