Die Dampflok 22 064 – Zeitreise mit Gerd Böck

Embark on a fascinating journey through time with steam locomotive 22 064 – narrated by Gerd Böck, who has been closely associated with it for decades. In this video, he impressively recounts the locomotive's technical details, historical operations, and personal experiences. Locomotive 22 064 was built in 1924 by the Henschel locomotive factory in Kassel and was originally designated 39 165. In 1960, it was extensively modernized at the Reichsbahn repair shop in Meiningen and given the new series designation 22 064. It is an outstanding example of the conversion of three-cylinder express locomotives in the GDR. Technical specifications of locomotive 22 064: Type: 1'D1' h3 Length over buffers: 23,700 mm Height: 4,550 mm Service weight: 107.5 t (without tender) / 180.3 t (with tender and full stores) Top speed: 110 km/h forward / 85 km/h reverse Power: 1,690 hp Drive wheel diameter: 1,750 mm Number of cylinders: 3 Today, locomotive 22 064 is owned by the Bavarian Railway Museum (BEM) in Nördlingen and preserved in "display" condition – a rolling monument to German railway history.
