Buses:8417(PD7770) Opened:1630 Arrival:1739 Total minutes:1h9min LWB E31 history: Long Win Bus Route E31 commenced service on May 22, 1997, the day the Tsing Ma Bridge opened, becoming the first Long Win bus route to operate. Initially, it ran between Tung Chung town centre and the old Tsuen Wan Ferry Pier; the terminus was later moved to Discovery Park. It was one of the few all-day service routes to North Lantau that did not pass through the airport. Historical Summary: May 22, 1997: Launched to coincide with the opening of the Tsing Ma Bridge, initially running between Tung Chung town centre and Tsuen Wan Ferry Pier, becoming the first Long Win bus route. July 6, 1998: With the opening of the new Hong Kong International Airport, the harbour terminus was extended to Tung Chung (Yat Tung Tsuen), bypassing the airport's logistics area. April 1, 2001: In line with Tung Chung development, the route was rerouted via Tat Tung Road (Citygate Outlets) in both directions. February 6, 2009: The route towards Tsuen Wan was rerouted via Tsing Yi West Road, no longer using the Tsing Yi North Shore Road. December 23, 2018: In conjunction with the Tuen Mun to Chek Lap Kok Link Project and the Tung Chung West Development, the E31 route will bypass Man Tung Tsuen in the direction of Yat Tung, further improving the local transportation network. The route and service characteristics differ from other E routes (such as E32 and E33). The E31 route primarily serves residents of Tung Chung New Town and Tsing Yi, and does not go to the airport terminal. In its early days, due to the popularity of "driving around," the extremely rare phenomenon of "triple trailer trucks" occurred. Currently, the fleet mainly uses double-decker air-conditioned buses, providing convenient commuter services between Tsuen Wan, Tsing Yi, and Tung Chung.
