Flavescenza dorata, la lotta alla cicalina della vite

Flavescence dorée is a disease caused by a phytoplasma that is spreading rapidly throughout Northern and Central Italy. Scaphoideus titanus, the grapevine leafhopper, is responsible for the spread of the disease, and it must be the target of careful insecticide defense. It is caused by a phytoplasma that, by settling in the phloem of vines, alters their metabolism, leading to the plants' desiccation. Since there is no cure to eliminate the unwanted host from infected vines, the only intervention strategy is preventative. This means monitoring the field and early identification of diseased plants, which must be eradicated, and careful #vineyard #protection to keep the population of Scaphoideus titanus, the grapevine #leafhopper, a vector of the flavescence dorée phytoplasma, low. To curb the spread of flavescence dorée, two mandatory #insecticide treatments are required in many regions. The first is to be applied in early June, to be reasonably certain that the vast majority of eggs have hatched. The second, after fifteen to twenty days, is to intercept any possible nesting and the presence of adults from areas adjacent to the vineyard. But what are the molecules currently available to manage #scaphoideus titanus? We discussed this with #Nufarm. Watch the other videos in the 2024 playlist.
