V/L 2024 - L'Italia nella "Guerra Grande" - con Lucio Caracciolo, Paolo Possamai

Event organized in collaboration with Historia, LiMes Club Pn-Ud-Ve and with the support of Amga Energia & Servizi The world is at war. Politics is in chaos. For several years, a "Great War," as LiMes calls it, has been raging on multiple fronts and in various ways. This is happening amidst the distracted and dangerous unawareness of those who think they are not involved in the storm, which instead involves us all—like it or not—and increasingly less indirectly. The bloody and destructive stalemate of the Ukrainian conflict, the Middle Eastern fire with its maritime aftermath on the strategic access to the Red Sea, the growing tensions between the US and China, the uncertain Indo-Pacific scenario: these are just some of the most obvious manifestations of a geopolitical upheaval that has already profoundly changed the international balance of power. In this turmoil, what can Italy do to fully understand the events and avoid being overwhelmed by them? How much does its geography, its historical and cultural background, its Atlantic geopolitical position matter? LUCIO CARACCIOLO, Italy's leading expert on geopolitics, is editor-in-chief of the magazines LiMes and Heartland. He founded and directs the School of Geopolitics and Government at LiMes. He writes about foreign policy for Repubblica and other foreign publications. He teaches Strategic Studies at Luiss University in Rome and Geopolitics at San Raffaele University in Milan. He is president of the Macrogeo think tank and a member of the scientific committee of vicino/lontano. His latest book: Accogliere (with A. Riccardi, Piemme 2023). PAOLO POSSAMAI, Editorial Director of Nord Est Multimedia. A journalist and historian, he built his professional career first at the Espresso Group and then at Gedi. He has edited the daily newspapers Mattino di Padova, Tribuna di Treviso, Corriere delle Alpi, La Nuova di Venezia and Mestre, and Il Piccolo di Trieste. For over twenty years, he was a key contributor to La Repubblica's economics weekly, Affari&Finanza, and has collaborated with La Stampa.
