Which Paste Is The Best?

Welcome back to the channel today’s video is all about joining compound. You might see me use this in my videos especially on compression fittings as this lubricates the seal so it can mould to shape perfectly without any friction. It also adds a waterproof layer which can take up any imperfections on the pipe or even on the face of the valve or fitting, you’re connecting onto. The first compound is called lsx from fernox. This comes in a tube and has a consistency and look close to silicone. This dries in a rubbery substance which is fully waterproof and you can even use this as a leak sealer if you have a slow drip and it actually works pretty well for this. It does have a good tenancy of drying out inside the tube which blocks it up so you do need to use it pretty fast. I found. The second compound is called boss white. Compound actually tries hard it smells really good and it doesn’t stay in your hands like most. I’m sure it’s made with seed oil and if you get it on your hands if you give it a quick rub it just banishes and actually leaves your skin feeling quite smooth. I don’t know how bad it is for your skin but I’ve never really seen a downfall using it. One thing that they say to not use it for is portable water as I’m sure back in a day they said that it used to react with plastics so if it got in contact with the watermain that supplies a water tank then it reacted with that I’m pretty sure that’s what I heard. So yeah, you’re not allowed to use this one on portable water. The third option is probably my most favourite and I’ve used this compound the most as I’m a domestic plumber so I need a compound that I’m allowed to use on portable water. It’s called jet lube, I’m pretty sure this is from the states but it is repackaged and sold over here in the UK. There’s lots of other companies that try and use this formula and they can rebrand it as their own. I have this one loaded up in my fluctuating as it makes it super easy for me to be able to replicate it. I’ve got less chance of getting it on my hands and that also equals less chance of getting on my clothes. this can stain but it is a white in colour. It’s very waterproof so beware at getting this compound onto surfaces as it’s hard to remove with water but I get fantastic results when using this on my compression joints as it gives great lubrication and the extra waterproof seal that I’m after. The last compound is from America. It’s not widely used in the UK. It is called blue monster. I found this stuff to be super waterproof. I can’t remove it from any clothes or anything that touches it’s blue in colour which is probably the worst for staining as it shows up a lot but it has been working pretty well for me. I think if it wasn’t blue, then I would use this compound over the jet lube. but as it’s not readily available then it’s not really a option but maybe the product start drip feeding into our merchants over here in the UK and then it will be more widely used. So I hope that might have cleared up a few questions on which joint in compound I use. I like to try them all and see the pros and cons with them but overall jet lube is my favourite and my most go to to have inside my fluctuator! ________________________________ Tools featured in this video: fernox LSX: https://amzn.to/4bzNZwH Boss white: https://amzn.to/4kl7NGC Jetlube: https://amzn.to/45MmXyr
