Principles of unformitarinism: - °°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°° It states that the study of present is the key to the study of past. James Hutton ( Scotland). 2. Principles of lateral horizontality :- °°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°° Nicholas Steno layers of sediments initially extend laterally in all directions but now separated by valley or other erosional features. 3. Principles of superposition:- °°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°° Nicholas Steno A bed that overlies another bed is always the younger. The younger bed will be the top of the sequence. The layers is younger than bottom layer. 4. Cross cutting relation:- °°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°° Charles Lyll Facies:- ••••••••••••• A set of lithological and paleontological characteristics of a sedimentay rock indicates it's particular embodiment of deposition are called facies. Homotaxial:- ••••••••••••••••••• It state that when rock units have equivalent age of formation but situated wide apart are known as homotaxial. Homotaxis:- •••••••••••••••••• It states when a set of rock units show the similarity in position and stay in a sequence but shows no similarity in age are known as homotaxis.
