On the coast of Sam Roi Yot, I found a seafood restaurant that completely blew me away. Jim Dang Restaurant doesn’t appear on many tourist itineraries, but after this meal, I genuinely think it deserves to. The standout dish was unlike anything I’ve ever eaten before. A magical mixed seafood salad loaded with fresh oysters, prawns and squid, combined with krathin (river tamarind) and dressed in a rich coconut and milk dressing. Add a spoonful of spicy nam jim seafood sauce and it becomes one of the most memorable seafood dishes I’ve had anywhere in Thailand. The gaeng som with barramundi and holy basil was just as impressive. Packed with bold southern flavours, it easily makes my top 5 gaeng som dishes I’ve ever eaten. Every single dish arriving at neighbouring tables looked incredible, and it’s safe to say I’ll be making the trip back. If you’re planning a trip beyond Hua Hin or Prachuap Khiri Khan, Sam Roi Yot is an incredible beach destination with stunning scenery, peaceful beaches and, as it turns out, some of the best seafood in Thailand. 📍 Jim Dang Restaurant (ร้านอาหารจิ๋ม-แดง), Sam Roi Yot, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Thailand https://maps.app.goo.gl/8mBBnFPSoYi8t... I’m obsessed with Thai street food and it’s that obsession that led me to start this YouTube channel. I want to share my favourite hidden spots in Bangkok and the rest of Thailand so you can fall in love with authentic, local Thai food as much as I have! If you love seeing off the beaten path, non-touristy, local life and authentic local life in Bangkok and Thailand then this is the channel for you. If go go bars on the Sukhumvit Road are more your thing (I’m not judging) then maybe not!
