57 Miles Offshore for American Red Snapper! Steph Caught the Jumbo
We ran 57 miles offshore before sunrise chasing American Red Snapper in 160 feet of water — and Steph landed the jumbo of the day. Frozen squid, salt-cured bait, sharks, grouper, and a full crew made this one a trip to remember. We headed offshore before sunrise with one goal in mind — American Red Snapper. This trip we decided to skip catching live bait and trust the frozen squid along with some salt-cured bait Jerry made for us. The plan was simple: get to the snapper grounds early, get lines down fast, and take advantage of the morning bite before the tide changed around noon. We fished in around 160 feet of water, roughly 57 miles offshore, with Adam, Steph, Steve, and myself, John Phillips. The bite started slow, but once we found the right area, the rods started bending. Steph stole the show with a jumbo red snapper, we put quality fish in the box, battled sharks stealing our fish, caught grouper, lane snapper, triggerfish, porgy, and had plenty of laughs along the way. Some days are limits, some days are just memories — and this one turned into both. Thanks for watching John Phillips Fishing.
